How is everyone going?

Posted by ladyfrou on August 12, 2009

Hi all,

How are we all going with our Mary’s?

Will admit I’ve neglected Mary shamefully the last few weeks.   Am busy at work and tired by the end of the day, so find counting cross stitch to exhausting.   What little cross stitch I am doing is a simple one colour design from The Gift of Stitching – South Seas Lace.

But mostly I am doing a lot of stitchery – good old back stitch and just following the lines.

What about everyone else?

Hi from South Australia…

Mary Wigham - JoolzJust had a go at inserting a picture – think it may be a bit big.  This is my MW todate – I hope to have a stitching day tomorrow – daughter out of the house, husband out of the house, me home alone!  Lets see how I go.

I am in awe of some of the finished Mary’s – I love the Japanese one and I also love the one that is in reds and browns.  Very effective.

Cheers – Joolz

Mary close up

stitch 172

Whoo-hoo, thanking you Miss Frou for changing the settings ! It wont seem to let me upload more then one pick into a post, they get stopped at 70% if I try, but that’s okay, if no one minds the making of more then one post. :)

This is my squirrel and flying turtle, it was very hard for me not to stitch that bird in green, because to me he IS a flying turtle not a peace bird hehe. I changed the squirrel’s nose, ’cause I thought the little guy looked a little sinister like ” Haha mother hugger, I just stole your NUT mawhahahah” so, now he’s had a nose job hehehe and he looks much sweeter…

Progress Shot #2

Progress Shot #2

I have had success! Thanks for changing the settings, Frou!! All there and working! I know you’ve seen this shot before… but I just wanted to see if it was working now or not! I honestly haven’t done any cross stitching for a couple of weeks. I’ve started a knitting class… and I have a certain amount of blocks to finish before each class each week!! So I’ve been busy knitting. It’s been fun and different. I’m hoping to be able to give Mary some more time tonight…. cause I think I’ll have used up all the yarn I bought…. today!! Hope you’re all well. It’s exciting seeing the progress of everyone’s Mary’s! Can’t believe that people have finished it already…!!

Problems with photo’s

Posted by joolzmac on July 27, 2009

Hi all, it seems not all of you have the ability to add photo’s though I know some of you can, not sure if it’s because you already have wordpress blogs and identities?

Anyway, I think we’ll need to get round the photo thing for now by people emailing me their photo’s or posting them onto their own blogs and letting me know and I’ll cut and paste photo into posts.   My email is ladynian at optusnet dot com dot au.   This will work ok, as I have to approve any of your posts anyway, so can easily add photo’s. ..   Frou

23/7  Testing, testing, one, two, three!  Is this thing on??

I am having a go at loading a picture up and trying to follow Ladyfrou’s instructions.

I am in the ‘New post’ screen (visual) and couldn’t find the Add Image button.   I had to click on the ‘Hide/Show Kitchen Sink’ button at the end of  B, I, etc which then bought up more buttons – the Add an Image is now there.

25/7   Still trying to fathom this out.  The Add Image button is greyed out so I don’t think I can put a picture up from this screen.  I’ll hit publish and then try another post.

Cheers – Joolz.

Housekeeping… adding photo’s and links

Posted by ladyfrou on July 22, 2009

Hi all,

Most of you seem to be new to webshots, so thought I’d give you a quick how to in regard to adding photo’s and links to your blogs.

All of the info. below will only make sense if you can see the same post page that I do – as an adminstrator I think I can see more, but let’s see if we can work it out.

When you are in Add New Post mode, you should have a menu across the top of the post screen, that allows you to format  Buttons with B I etc.  You get more options if you are in the visual tab, rather than the HTML tab.

Directly above the B I buttons there should be Upload/ Insert and a series of icons – the picture icon is the first of these buttons.   When you click on the icon you get a pop up box called Add an Image. You need to select Select Files button on the line that says Choose Files to Upload.

Then just browse and select the image you want from your computer – the image will be copied into the blog web library, so it doesn’t create a security issue for you.

When you’ve found your image it’ll crunch and upload the file and you get another pop-up that allows you to rename the image and put in a description.  It also allows you to determine whether you want to centre or left/right the image and it’s size – I tend to use either thumbnail or medium depending on how many images I’m going to load.

Finally, just below the size line there is a button to insert into post.  Click this and your image is saved into the library and also posted into the entry.  If you want to reload the image you can then access it via the upload/insert image button again, but instead of going to your computer to select file, you can go to the media library, where the image is stored (you can then change the size or orientation of the image).

Adding a link – first off – copy the url from your blog or website, highlight the section of text you want to link to, when you do, two greyed buttons on the top row of the toolbar next to the right orientation button become active – click on the first icon (looks like chain links) and a pop up screen appears and you can post your url into Links URL field.  If it worked, the link will be blue and underlined!

Clear as mustard?   Probably not – but have a play next time and see how you go!

Mary Wigham in country South Australia

Posted by joolzmac on July 18, 2009

Hello,

I started my Mary Wigham a few weeks ago but unfortunately time has not been on my side.  I plan to sit and do a bit tonight – its cold and wet and perfect stitching weather.  I am in awe of the MW’s I have seen on the Needleprint site – so much imagination with colour.  I have opted to go with the palette that was set with  DMC cottons on 18 count Aida (poor eyesight).  I am new to WordPress so I need to work out how to upload a picture.  I have a blog at www. simplyjoolz.blogspot.com if anyone would like to visit.

Cheers & happy stitching,

Joolz

Checking in

Posted by chrisalee on July 10, 2009

Hiya everyone ! I’m just checking in to say hello and see how everyone is doing. I’ve gotten to give our Mary some love this week and I am hoping to get a picture up very soon. I’m outta bandwidth so I’ll have to wait a few more days. I don’t have much to show for my effort, I find I am sitting looking at pictures of Mary more then I am stitching on my own project. But Mary just makes me so happy and I enjoy perving on other people’s  WIPS so much!!

I ran into a bit of trouble with Mary today and a frog came to visit me for the morning so most of what I stitched last night came out this morning in between customers at work ( the joy of working at a LNS- I get to stitch at work) and now Mary is just waiting for me to get some stitching time in this weekend.

On a personal note, yesterday and today we had a group of girls into the shop for  a class. They learned Rhodes hearts and Rhodes squares and Rhodes butterflies and the basic cross stitch. The girls all had a great time and both days they didn’t want to leave. I wonder if our Mary Wigham had as much fun at the stitching as my class did today?!

Happy stitching!
